Full time agency nurses – we’re recruiting!

Are you a full time agency nurse or have you ever thought about taking the leap into the agency world? With increasing pressures on ensuring patient safety, our clients often call on us when no one else can support them. For over 30 years we have been able to support our clients when they need us most and this could not be possible without our nurses. Our agency nurses have a unique trait – their experience, expertise, flexibility and ability to travel long distances (often with very short notice) sets them apart from the rest. It is because of this that we pay our nurses some of the best rates around and we feel strongly that nurses should be paid the best rates for the work that they do.

Why work for Thornbury?

But don’t just take our word for it. Here’s a few comments from some of our full time agency nurses:

Sarah has worked full time for Thornbury for almost 3 years. Here is her story:

Working for Thornbury has given me flexibility which is just what I need as my children are young. My work & home life balance has improved greatly, freeing up more time for me to focus on my family and myself. Taking the step to work full time for Thornbury was a scary concept but I know I made the right decision. I took financial advice and worked out a plan about how to protect myself in the event of long term sickness, I planned my savings so I can give myself up to 10 weeks’ holiday per year, and I pay into Thornbury’s pension scheme to support my retirement plan. The opportunities with Thornbury are fantastic. I believe it is the best agency for nurses, enabling us to further our careers and continue our professional development. They offer various courses across the UK and online courses which I have found very beneficial - they have also supported me with my recent Revalidation. I get to work within different hospitals and environments throughout the UK where I meet lots of nurses who have similar stories to mine. The NHS is fabulous in so many ways and as a registered nurse I thought it was where I would spend much of my nursing career. But shift patterns and work pressures were beginning to take their toll on me and although my work colleagues would often show great support, I found that I was not enjoying my work as much as I used to. Working for Thornbury has restored my faith, meaning I’m a much happier nurse and I am looking forward to my future career with Thornbury.

Owen is one of our longest serving nurses, now in his 22nd year working with us. Here is Owen’s story:

I became a full time agency nurse because I had a young family and it suited my lifestyle. Compared to the NHS, working as a full time agency nurse gives you more freedom. You can holiday when you want and dictate your own work patterns. I also find it is much less stressful than working in the NHS as you are your own boss. To any nurse who is thinking of making the move to working full time as an agency nurse, I would tell you to go for it, take the best opportunity by the horns and enjoy your new freedom. Thornbury’s pay and benefits package are great.
