Support for nurses

31/03/2020 By Sarah

We’re thankful for all nurses who are continuing to work to support clients during this difficult time. We know that many of you are making sacrifices of your own to protect your families, one being staying away from home. With the lock-down of many businesses across the UK, we wanted to highlight some of the hotels we have been in touch with recently to find out if they’re staying open for health professionals. Please remember this is an ever changing situation so it’s important to always call the hotels before travelling:

Parking

Free parking for key workers through JustPark!
Two weeks ago, JustPark launched an appeal for people and businesses to offer their driveways and car parks for healthcare staff to park free. The response was overwhelming! Over 5,200 spaces have now been made available to healthcare staff through the JustPark app and website. If you’re unable to park onsite at a hospital, check out the JustPark website to see who in the local community is willing to support you. Click here for more information.

Parking permit for free NHS spaces
We’ve produced a parking permit for nurses who will be driving to and from their shift. This parking permit states that as a health professional, you are entitled to free parking under the instruction and guidance of the Health Secretary. If you don’t yet have a permit, please ask your local call centre team or download from the Quick Nurse website.

Please remember the following things before you leave for every shift:

  • ID badge – you will need this not only for when you arrive on shift, but also to show to local enforcement officers if you’re stopped
  • Key worker letter – you can download this from the FAQs section in the Quick Nurse app or alternatively, please request this from your local call centre team. This will be emailed to you and you can show a digital copy or print one out (if you have access to a printer at home)
