Mandatory Training

This one day mandatory training course covers manual handling, basic paeds and adult life support, anaphylaxis and automated external defibrillation.

This course is mandatory and is required to be updated annually. If you need to up date call the training department to get information on venues and dates and book your place on a course, call 0845 120 5251.There is now a charge to book onto these courses.

Continual Professional Development Study Days and Online Training

Control And Restraint Refresher Course

15th May 2012 - Bristol

The training for this refresher course takes places over 2 days and consists of both breakaway and control and restraint. The training consists of tutor demonstration followed by participant practice.

Participants should have completed either a full or refresher course in the last 18 months to access a place on this course.

Advanced Clinical Observations training for HCA's

This training event has been developed to meet the needs of the healthcare worker in developing their role of providing holistic care to clients. It will provide the candidates with the underpinning knowledge and basic skills to practically carry out this aspect of their role in a safe and competent manner.
The programme will cover

  • Fluid balance and accurate charting
  • Elimination- Types of continence aids and rationale for their use

Venepuncture & Cannulation skills

This course is for individuals wishing to undertake training for inserting a peripheral venous cannula and taking venous blood samples or a refresher for those individuals wishing to up date their skills.
On successful completion of this training you will be equipped with the theory and skills to gain competence under clinical supervison. Thornbury Nursing are unable to offer the opportunity to do the competencies.
