Our Approach

Our Agency workers have come to expect both exceptional demands and excellent rewards from Thornbury. Each nurse is specifically recruited for their ability to respond to difficult and last minute assignments. Our clients expect talented, high calibre nurses with up-to-date clinical skills who can do the job competently from day one. Agency workers will not be placed in clinical areas in which they are unfamiliar with or inexperienced.

In recognition of your skill, commitment and flexibility, our policy is to support you above and beyond your normal expectations. For instance our pay rates set the pace in the nursing sector and we offer mandatory training and professional development courses which are free to all Agency workers, amongst many other benefits.

We specialise in the following clinical areas although they are not restricted to:

  • ENP’s
  • Minor Injuries
  • ITU / HDU
  • NICU
  • CCU
  • A&E
  • Chemotherapy
  • Practice / Treatment Room
  • District Nursing
  • Theatre / Recovery
  • Paediatrics
  • Midwifery
  • Secure Psychiatric Units

Standards

We place a strong emphasis on providing the best possible service which is fully managed by our experienced teams. Ensuring high quality care is at the centre of everything we do and we achieve this by:

Recruitment - We implement a rigorous selection and recruitment process ensuring applicants have the skills, competency and experience to do the job. The recruitment process includes a face to face interview, ID verification, right to work, language ability enhanced CRB, occupational health assessment, appropriate referencing and clinical skills checklists and up-to-date mandatory training.

Deployment - With the latest technology and our experienced placement team, Agency workers are selected for shifts matching the precise requirements from clients to the Agency workers qualifications, skills and competencies.

Regulation - We are licensed, regulated and inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for our work in England and Wales. Our last inspection in May 2008 gave us the highest possible rating of 3* Star which puts us in the top 20% of agencies who have achieved this excellent accolade.

Training - Agency workers who register with us are required to provide certificated evidence of basic life support and manual handling training undertaken in the previous 12 months. Additionally an Induction Workbook must be completed with a 100% pass rate which includes health & safety (including COSHH and RIDDOR), fire safety, food hygiene, nutritional assistance, infection control, safeguarding vulnerable adults and children.

Thornbury provide access to free BLS and MH training across the country and offer professional development courses identified as areas for development through our annual appraisal system.

Compliance - Our computer systems generate a daily ‘expiry report’ to ensure all our Agency workers are compliant at all times.

Our compliancy includes:

  • Basic life support and manual handling
  • Annual mandatory workbook
